EA content creator "accidentally" revealed the next Battlefield title. Act surprised.

On July 19th, 2025, the Battlefield community was rocked by an unexpected reveal: the next Battlefield game is officially titled Battlefield 6. But this revelation wasn’t part of a grand marketing plan, it came from a content creator affiliated with EA who "unintentionally" posted an image that revealed the name ahead of schedule. The official reveal, which was reportedly set for next week, was disrupted by the leak, prompting widespread discussion within the Battlefield community.
The source of the leak was a physical promotional box sent by EA to select content creators. The box was designed to build anticipation for the next Battlefield title and featured red strapping with game mode names such as “Conquest,” “Breakthrough,” and “PTFO,” all wrapped around a metallic gray case with one striking label in bold: Battlefield 6.
This package was posted publicly by one of the recipients, an established EA-affiliated creator. While the creator did include the legally required “sponsored by EA” disclosure, the image unintentionally spoiled the game’s title well ahead of the planned embargo and the reveal event that was expected to happen the following week.
The content creator in question has a long-standing relationship with EA and the Battlefield franchise, having participated in past campaigns and events under strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). Despite this, and even though there was reportedly no explicit NDA or embargo included with the package, internal EA communications (reviewed by Battlefield One Podcast) confirmed that an embargo was indeed still in effect.

This detail is crucial: although no physical paperwork came with the box, previous agreements and standard professional protocol around unreleased content still applied. EA’s failure to clearly communicate the embargo conditions was a major misstep, but equally concerning was the creator’s decision to publish the image, knowing the potential risk and timing around the upcoming reveal.
The leak is a stark example of how a lack of clear communication paired with poor professional judgment, can derail coordinated efforts in the gaming industry. The premature exposure of the Battlefield 6 name not only disrupted EA’s marketing strategy, but also forced Battlefield-focused content creators to shift their own plans, including ours at Battlefield One Podcast.
The title Battlefield 6 also generated significant debate. Many fans had hoped for a bold reboot, possibly just titled Battlefield, to signify a clean slate. The decision to use a numbered sequel suggests a more cautious approach, perhaps an indication that EA is prioritizing familiarity over innovation in its branding.
Despite the leak, EA is still moving forward with the planned reveal, which according to internal communications we gathered, is expected to happen next week. Until then, other content creators have been asked to honor the embargo and refrain from sharing any details about the promotional materials they’ve received.
Fans can look forward to:
The official reveal next week, likely including trailers, key art, and possibly a breakdown of core features.
Potential previews or early access content from creators who did follow the embargo rules.
Clarity on the game’s vision, gameplay, and direction, especially as speculation intensifies following the name leak.
The Battlefield 6 name leak wasn’t just an accidental spoiler, it was a symptom of deeper issues in content strategy and professional conduct when it comes to Electronic Arts. With the official reveal now imminent, the focus shifts to the game itself - can it win back the trust and excitement of the Battlefield community?
