Originally the main topic was supposed to be about Battlefield 6 Battle Royale, but Ray brought an interesting point about the attachment system we have in Battlefield 6: should you able to equip all the available attachments on the gun or keep it limited as it is? Which is more balanced? Will the metas be more aggresive or balanced? This is our weapon debate.

QUOTES:

If I throw 50 attachments on my fucking gun, let them do it, but at the cost of manoeuvrability and speed.
Let me make my weapon be viable to my playstyle
If you're going to say that we have we have to lock attachments for balance reasons, what about unlocking them and make sure the positives and negatives are stronger?
Don't remove my choice

HIGHLIGHTS:

  1. Ray's request about weapon attachments:

    • Strong opinions from Ray against restrictive point-based attachment systems, arguing they limit player creativity and lead to meta homogenization.

    • Ray prefers for open systems where players can attach multiple accessories freely, accepting the trade-offs (like reduced maneuverability) as part of gameplay.

    • Criticism of systems that artificially limit attachments, which can stifle variety and experimentation.

  2. Meta & Balance Concerns:

    • Ray's importance of balancing weapons through real-world logic and in-game mechanics, rather than arbitrary point limits.

    • Warnings that overly restrictive systems will cause players to gravitate toward a few dominant loadouts, reducing diversity.

    • Tom gives examples from other games (Warzone, Modern Warfare 2) illustrating how meta develops and why restrictions are needed..

  3. Attachment Negatives & Realism:

    • Emphasis on realistic firearm behavior, such as how certain attachments (like choke tubes or barrel length) should realistically affect weapon performance.

    • Critique of unrealistic in-game mechanics, like shotguns having sniper-like accuracy over long distances.

  4. Gameplay & Player Style:

    • The desire for customization options that cater to different playstyles (stealth, CQC, sniping).

    • Tom's importance of penalties for over-attachment (e.g., slower movement, less recoil control) to encourage strategic choices.

  5. Content & Map/Weapon Variety:

    • Discussion about the number of maps and weapons in upcoming seasons, with a preference for quality over quantity.

    • Suggestions that more maps and weapons should be released periodically to maintain player interest and variety.

  6. Development & Design Philosophy:

    • Ray's criticism of lazy design choices, such as point systems that overly restrict customization.

    • Advocacy for more realistic, flexible systems that allow players to experiment and adapt.

    • The analogy of a buffet (variety) versus a limited menu (restricted options) to illustrate the importance of choice.
